You would have come across the term SEO several times, it is a term often used when we talk about websites, marketing and so on. Ever wondered what it means? Well, let us read the following article to understand what the term means without getting confused by the technical jargon involved.

SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization. SEO ensures that your website or blog page is ranked higher than other websites on search engines. To break it down, ever wonder when you type something in google, the first thing that pops up are websites answering your questions. These pages are provided with a score based on the search engine’s algorithm. Google, then will display the pages with the highest score.

As the name suggests, this revolves around your online presence, that is your webpage or website and methods in order to optimize the website. On-page SEO includes the keywords involved, the type of content, the quality of content and so on.

Well, a website which contains strong supportive links in it is more likely to rank higher in a search engine’s algorithm. Technical SEO refers to all elements of your webpage, except for the content. The main purpose of this SEO is to ensure that users are able to read your website, that is increase your website’s readability as well as warrantying a good user experience. A page that loads quickly, can be accessed on the mobile phone, is secured and can be gone through via the search engine’s algorithm is surely bound to place your site at a higher rank.

· Local SEO

This SEO unlike the others, is highly target. The word local refers to the SEO focusing on a small group of people, rather than targeting a huge audience. It focuses more on serving a local audience, this could be through an age-specific demographic, generation-specific and so on. The best part of this SEO is that it is free!

· YouTube SEO

Did you know there was a type of SEO called ‘YouTube SEO’? This SEO is extremely niche. Not many indivduals know that YouTube is one of the most popular search engines.
